First Lutheran Church Celebration Center Fargo, ND
A new contemporary worship and fellowship center meets immediate needs and provides flexibility for the future.
The expanding congregational needs of First Lutheran Church generated the desire to create a contemporary Celebration Center, which although progressive in architectural detail and technology, remained reverent to the gothic architecture of the original early 1900s church. The spatial programming requirements included additional accommodations for food service, music and choir, youth and recreation space.
The Celebration Center creates a flexible space supporting both worship and fellowship.
The interior utilizes a custom wood roof structure to create a warm and welcoming environment while finding its design detail in the original sanctuary connecting new and old worship spaces.
Music, youth and recreation functions are located on the lower level, keeping louder activities in a separate space.
The two-story recreation space is concealed to not overpower the worship spaces when the church is seen from the exterior.
